To celebrate Onyx Feather’s latest collection launch and her nod in the Washingtonian’s annual Best Of issue, I had the pleasure of playing part in throwing a surprise dinner party inspired by the cities of each past collection. Representing Rio de Janeiro, I mixed up clementine-ginger caipirinhas for the ladies to sip. The clementine sneaks in to replace the usual citrus of lime in this cocktail for a refreshingly light drink perfect for any summer get together.

Here’s how to bring a little bit of Brazil into your home for summer, inspired by the flirtatious Rio de Janeiro collection from Onyx Feather:

Clementine-Ginger Caipirinhas

makes 6

3 small chopped seeded clementines (no need to peel)

1/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon grated peeled ginger

3/4 cup orange juice

1 1/2 cup cachaça (Brazilian sugarcane liquor) or rum

Divide clementines among 6 tumblers. Add 2 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon grated peeled ginger to each glass. Crush the ingredients in the bottom of the glass with a muddler or handle of a wooden spoon. Top eachdrink with 2 tablespoons orange juice and 1/4 cup cachaça or rum . Fill glasses with ice cubes, stir, and serve.
